Junction ISD Lowers Tax Rate to 95 Cents

This summer the Junction ISD Board of Trustees has worked diligently in analyzing the district’s needs in its annual budget process.  Trustees for Junction ISD approved a budget of $5,878,588.00 at a special meeting held August 29, 2007.  The meeting featured a public hearing, but no members from the public spoke about the tax rate or budget.

For the second year in a row, the budget includes a raise for the staff and a savings for property owners.

Junction’s total tax rate for this year is $.95 per $100 of assessed value, down from $1.21.  We are very proud and feel good that JISD has one of the lowest tax rates and the highest academic ratings of all the schools in our area.
The budget is divided into the following functions and percentages:

Function  Description  Appropriations Percent
00 Other $5,400 .09%
11 Instruction $3,306,223 56.24%
12 Media Services $79,956 1.36%
13 Curriculum/Instruction $80,397 1.37%
21 Instructional Dev. $19,346 .33%
23 School Administration $311,580 5.30%
31 Guidance & Counseling $99,231 1.69%
33 Health Services %59, 786 1.02%
34 Transportation $231,756 3.94%
36 Co Curr/Extracurricular $374,043 6.36%
41 General Administratrion $372,769 6.34%
51 Maintenance $673,373 11.45%
52 Security $2,000 .03%
53 Data Processing $163,228 2.78%
61 Community Services $800 .01%
81 Facilities & Construction $.00 .00%
93 Payments Sp. Ed Coop $98,700 1.68%

We feel good because we’re going to be able to meet the goals that we have set for the year, but we also feel like we’re being good stewards of the public’s money. Please know that as a district we clearly understand that our hope for tomorrow must be rooted in the relationship with have with our parents and community.
