On February 1, Junction ISD was officially reclassified as a Class 1A school. However, with this new classification means new district alignments for different sports. The following district alignments will be through 2010: Football-District 29 which is made up of Christoval, Eldorado, Junction, Mason, Menard, Mertzon Irion County and Rocksprings. (7 Teams) Volleyball-District 27 which is made up of Center Point, Junction, Leakey, Medina and Utopia. (5 Teams) Cross Country-District 30 which is made up of Barksdale Nueces Canyon, Brackettville Brackett, Center Point, D’Hanis, Junction, La Pryor, Mason, Medina, Menard, Rocksprings, Sabinal, San Antonio Gervin, San Antonio Harmony Science, San Antonio School of Science & Tech and San Antonio Stacy. (15 Teams) Basketball-District 29 which is made up of Barksdale Nueces Canyon, Brackettville Brackett, Center Point, Junction, Medina and Rocksprings. (6 Teams) Tennis/Golf/Track-District 30 which is made up of Barksdale Nueces Canyon, Brackettville Brackett, Center Point, D’Hanis, Junction, La Pryor, Mason, Medina, Menard, Rocksprings, Sabinal, San Antonio Gervin, San Antonio Harmony Science, San Antonio School of Science & Tech and San Antonio Stacy. (15 Teams) Baseball-District 29 which is made up of Center Point, Eldorado, Junction, Mason, Medina, Menard and Rocksprings. (7 Teams) Softball-District 2 which is made up of Eden, Eldorado, Forsan, Junction, Menard, Miles and Winters. (7 Teams) You are probably asking why isn’t Junction in the same district throughout in every sport? Well, that is because not all 1A schools play every sport as Junction does. |
