Quick Reference Guide to 2012-2013 Middle/High School Student Discipline Plan

The Junction Board of Trustees held a special workshop June 27 to develop discipline plans for 2012-2013. Several parents and staff members provided input during the process. The following was developed as a quick reference guide:

 Level I Offenses / Classroom level discipline

These include but are not limited to:

Tardy

No supplies

Horseplay,

Making noise

No homework

Failing to follow classroom/cafeteria rules

Public display of affection

Food/Drink

Unauthorized use of electronic devices

Disrespect

 Level II Offenses / Office level discipline

These include but are not limited to:

Obscene gestures/language

Insubordination

Robbery

Fighting/assault

Sexual Harassment

Threatening

Knives

Misuse of technology; Social Networking, etc.

Bullying

Dress Code Violations

Theft/Vandalism

 Level III Offenses

These include, but are not limited to: (refer to Student Code of Conduct)

·       Marihuana & other drugs, misdemeanor

·       Alcohol, misdemeanor

·       Abusable volatile chemicals

·       Public Lewdness/indecent exposure

·       Felony conduct, not covered elsewhere

·       False alarm/report

·       Terrorist Threat

·       Gang activity

·       Retaliation against an employee

·       Airsoft and BB-type guns, slingshots, etc.

·       Off-campus Title V felonies

·       Illegal Knife

Level IV Offenses

There include, but are not limited to: (refer to Student Code of Conduct)

·       Marihuana & other drugs, felony

·       Alcohol, felony

·       Firearms

·       Other prohibited weapons, (clubs, brass knuckles, switchblades, etc)

·       Arson

·       Aggravated kidnapping

·       Aggravated assaults and sexual assaults

·       Indecency with a child

·       Aggravated robbery 

Consequences

Level I  Teacher

                       1sttime: Verbal warning

2ndtime  Detention and teacher call parent

3rd time: Referral to Office and parent conference with teacher

Level II    Office Referral 

·       Any office visit or detention will be written up and mailed home to parent

·       3 days in ISS or an out of school suspension will keep a student from participating in any end of year trips or class field trips

·       3 days of detention (lunch or after school) will move student to ISS upon receiving 4thdetention

 

                       1stReferral: 1 day ISS and or Corporal Punishment

                       2ndReferral:2 days ISS and or Corporal Punishment

                       3rdReferral:3 days ISS and or Corporal Punishment: Must have parent

conference with teacher and principal before returning to class

                       4thReferral: 1 day Out of School Suspension: Must have parent

conference with teacher and principal before returning to class

                       5thReferral: 2 days Out of School Suspension: Must have parent

conference with teacher and principal before returning to class

                       6thReferral:3 days Out of School Suspension: Must have parent

conference with teacher and principal before returning to class

                       Assigned to DAEP

*** Severe violation may result in an immediate Out of School Suspension regardless of the number of referrals *** All disciplinary consequences are assigned at the discretion of the administrator.

ISS Procedures 

·       No outside lunches / students may purchase bag lunch from cafeteria

·       No talking

·       No sleeping

·       Daily community service / work detail

·       AM /PM restroom break

·       Student must remain in marked off space

·       Students will follow a class schedule while in ISS

·       Students may not have any electronic devices (i.e. ipods, cell phone, etc)
